Florida Statute 455.2122 permits any person to take the 18-Hour Prelicensure Course online or by correspondence.  Don’t waste time.  To become a licensed Community Association Manager in Florida you must:


  1. Be at least eighteen (18) years of age,
  2. Be of good moral character, and
  3. Pass the State Exam within 12 months of completing a State approved 18 Hour Community Association Manager Prelicensure Course.

Follow These Steps to Obtain Your License 

1. Register for prelicensure education.    All CAM applicants must satisfactorily complete a minimum of 18 hours of prelicensing instruction.   You will not be allowed to take the mandatory state examination for your CAM license without proof of successfully completing an approved 18-hour prelicensure course.  CLICK HERE TO CHECK OUT OUR COURSE

2.  You must get fingerprinted.  All CAM applicants must file a complete set of electronic fingerprints with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) through a provider approved by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).  See a list of FDLE-approved providers:  Approved Vendors (This list is not exhaustive and more vendors may be found doing a google search for your area and calling the vendor to confirm they are approved by the DBPR).  It is suggested that fingerprints be submitted at least 30 days prior to submitting your application and pre-licensure education course completion certificate.  You may be asked by the fingerprinting vendor what the ORI number is.  If so, it is FL921932Z.

3.  You must submit an Application and 18-Hour Pre-licensure Course Completion Certificate to DBPR.  Your completed Application to become a CAM must be submitted to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR).  A fee must be submitted with the application.   The application is available at this hyperlink:  Applications.  THE STATE EXAMINATION MUST BE PASSED WITHIN A 12 MONTH PERIOD FROM THE COMPLETION DATE ON THE PRE-LICENSURE COURSE CERTIFICATION.

4.  You must pass the State Examination.   Follow the link to register with Pearson Vue, the Exam Administrator, to register and find the test location nearest to you: Pearson Vue.  The goal of the exam to is show proficiency with the “fundamental knowledge of state and federal laws relating to the operation of all types of community associations and state laws relating to corporations and nonprofit corporations, proper preparation of community association budgets, proper procedures for noticing and conducting community association meetings, insurance matters, relating to community associations, and management skills.” was designed specifically to help achieve this goal and embark on a successful career as a community association manager.
